Meeting Announcements
Our April Meeting will take place on April 20th at 7pm at the Gibraltar Community Center.
Our featured speaker will be Jim Francis, Lake Erie Basin Coordinator from the Michigan DNR. He’ll be sharing the latest news and information on the status of our fishery, the Detroit River & Lake Erie in particular.
Jim is native to SE Michigan, growing up in St Clair Shores. He developed a passion for a career in fisheries while fishing Lake St Clair as a youth. He studied fisheries at both Michigan State and Ohio State and has been working for Michigan DNR in the Lake Erie Unit for the past 27 years. He lives in South Lyon with his wife, Sharon, and their pack of Bernese Mountain Dogs (3 right now). He is extra excited about fishing walleye in the Detroit River and Lake Erie this spring, as he recently upgraded his boat.

THE DWF’S ANNUAL DUES INCREASED BY $5.00 EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1ST. Our annual dues went up by $5.00 on New Year’s Day. That means a single membership will now be $25.00 per year and a family membership will be $35.00 per year.
The Downriver Walleye Federation has existed for over thirty years without any increase in dues, but things have finally caught up to us. Most of our ageing equipment is now in desperate need of repair or replacement (especially our event trailer) and inflation has had a big impact on our operating expenses (hall rentals, special event costs etc.). So please try and view this relatively small increase as an investment in our great club.
